Dancing With A Purpose

When it can’t be done, do it! The temperature was 40 degrees celsius (felt like 50C to us), the dancers turned the music up and in long sleeve heavyweight sweatshirts they kicked up the dirt of a side street in Accra, Ghana. Meet the Afrodancers from The Dance with a Purpose Academy.

Watch DWP Academy

Dance with A Purpose (DWP) is not just a dance group but a dance institution, which accommodates training for young people with the talents and flair for dance. DWP aims to be a platform that changes the world through dance by encouraging people to follow their passion whilst having a positive impact on society. Yes, they have danced with Beyoncé when she came to Ghana to film her music video “Black is King”. When we met three students from DWP on Cotton Avenue a side street in Accra, Ghana to watch them dance the temperature wasn’t an issue for Soloman Obeng, Prince Wisedu and Emmanuel Kwabena Adjaponoa. Their passion, energy, the natural way they collaborate and when we got a moment to chat it was all heart and soul. As they say.. “hi,hi,hi wossop, wossop, wossop world”.
